Moving into a new place gives you the freedom to explore new options and to change the décor that you had before.  When we moved into our home, I was a little tired of our old colors in our front room, so I decided to change them.  I didn’t really think about it before, but many of the things I had purchased before matched the old colors.  One of the main things we had were the frames that held all of our family pictures.  Between moving costs and the purchase of the home, we were low on finances, so I had to be creative.  The colors I chose were black and aqua, so I had to figure something out.

We already had some black frames, but the problem was getting aqua ones.  Many of the frames we had were brown with a wood look.  I found the idea of taking these old frames, sanding them down a bit and painting them the colors I wanted using spray paint.  My husband was a little doubtful at first, thinking they may not look very good, but we started the project anyway.  Using sandpaper, we rubbed of the finish of the old frames.  We didn’t completely remove all of the finish, just enough for the new paint to stick.  Some of the frames only needed one coat of the paint, others required two to three to hide what was beneath.  After they had all dried, we brought them inside and my husband was surprised how well it had worked!  I love the pop of the aqua and the contrast the black gives to it!
