Pillows in 1 hour!

Once I finished the frames and had them displayed I realized I needed something more to tie the colors in to the rest the room. Most of the furniture in the room is black so that one was easy but I needed the aqua somewhere else. The couch we bought had two pillows and I decided that covering them would be a great way to add more aqua in the room.

If you can sew a straight line, you can make a pillow cover. When making a pillow cover, there are a few ways you can do it. I have used the method with a zipper so it is easily taken off and washed. For the pillows in my living room I did a simple pillow cover.

If you pillow already has a cover that is removable then you are already on your way! If not, that’s okay it just is a little trickier.  You can buy regular quilting fabric for low use pillows. For an outside pillow you will want to use the specialty fabric. I just got my fabric at the local fabric store (I matched it to the paint I used).

Fold your fabric right-sides together and then place the pillow case on top matching one edge with the folded edge (this saves you sewing time). You are going to use the case as a pattern and cut around making sure not to cut the folded edge.

Start sewing at the folded edge (not sewing on the edge) and up one side. When you get to the corner sew in only about 1-2 inches and leave a large opening. You are going to use this as the way to stuff your pillow inside. Repeat on the other side.

Once you are finished sewing stuff your pillow inside and hand-sew it shut! Simple and easy pillow in under an hour!
